A Walk Through the World of Crime and Punishment
After reading Crime and Punishment, I want to share what I have learned and my thoughts. In here, I'm just gonna talk about a brief story to remind you about the novel and the main character Rodka Raskolnikov. Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky follows Rodka Raskolnikov, a young student in 19th-century St. Petersburg who is struggling with poverty. Believing he is somehow special and above the law, Raskolnikov convinces himself that murdering an old pawnbroker is justified if it serves a greater good. However, after committing the crime, he is overwhelmed by guilt and paranoia, leading to a deep internal struggle as he questions whether he can ever find redemption or make peace with himself. A central theme in the novel is Raskolnikov’s confusion between crime and greatness.
